Name:

"Oyarsa" for those who don't know, is the name of an archangel (or "god" with a little 'g') in C. S. Lewis's Space Trilogy. I liked the character, so I stole the name. Who am I? I am a library science student in Illinois who has a variety of interests--too many to list! I have worked in libraries for five years and counting.

Are you a good person?

Why Peter Jackson should not produce the Hobbit

Thankfully, he is going to do King Kong for his next project, I do not, at this time, intend on seeing it.

Call me a "purist", but Jackson managed to leave an undeliable tarnish on "The Lord of the Rings"

Leave out Tom Bombadil? Fine. Cute segment, but non-essential to the plot. Cut out some exchanges of dialogue for time reasons? Understandable.

Change the personality of almost every major character? Not cool.

Frankly, I shudder to think what he would do to Biblo and the others; would Elrond continue to be a grump in the Hobbit; not the wise, solemn elf-lord he is in the book? Would he do justice to Bilbo? Would he actually follow what is in the book?

Frankly, I don't think so. He's shown himself to be a relativist and a revisionist. I'd much rather see what Spielburg, or someone else could do with it.

PLEASE New Line, if you get the rights and "go-ahead" for the Hobbit, don't put Jackson in charge of it.
